Metadata schema and ontology for capturing and processing of 3D cultural heritage objects

Abstract Motivated by the increased use of 3D acquisition objects cultural heritage institutions, we were investigating ontologies and metadata schemes for process to provide details about capturing, which can be combined with preexisting describing an object. Therefore divided capturing workflow into common steps starting object being placed in front a scanner preparation publication datasets and/or derived images. While proposed ontology is well defined on coarse level detail very different techniques, e.g. Stucture from Motion LiDAR elaborated scheme fine scanners available at our institutions. This includes practical experiments measurement data past current projects including published Zenodo as guiding examples source code their computation. Additionally, free Open Source GigaMesh Software Framework’s analysis processing methods have been extended like mesh cleaning 2D image generation. Finally, discuss limitations give outlook future extensions.
